* Zexie (Rhizoma  Alismatis )

tastes sweet or no taste and is cold in nature, acts on kidney and urinary bladder meridians. It can promote diuresis to resolve dampness from the lower energizer and expel heat.

澤瀉: 味甘、淡；性寒；歸腎、膀胱經。可以利小便、清濕熱、降血脂、降血糖，常用於小便不利，水腫脹滿，泄瀉尿少，痰飲眩暈，熱淋澀痛，高血壓等症。

* Zhenzhumu (Concha Margaritifera Usta)

 is commonly known as mother of pearl. It is sweet and salty in flavor, cold in nature, acts on liver and heart meridians. It contains calcium carbonate and so on. Per "China Medical Dictionary", it has effects of calming nerves and the liver-yang, clearing liver-heat, anti-seizure, cardiac stimulating and anti-allergy, tranquilizing and relieving palpitation, improving vision. It is also indicated in conjunctival congestion, dysphoria and insomnia due to hyperactivity of liver-yang. 

珍珠母: 味咸；性寒，归肝、心经。含碳酸鈣等，具有養心安神、袪毒等功能。《中國醫學大辭典》稱其可以治癲狂驚癇，頭眩，耳鳴，心跳，胸腹膜脹，婦女血熱，血崩……等。

* Zhiqiao (Fructus Citri Aurantii)

is bitter, sour, acrid in taste, slightly cold in nature and acts on lung, spleen, liver, stomach, and large intestine channels. It can help to break stagnation of qi and remove food retention, resolve phlegm and eliminate mass. It is indicated for the treatment of indigestion and fullness and pain in the chest and upper abdomen, as well as constipation, cough with abundance of phlegm, prolapse of stomach, uterus and rectum etc.

枳殼: 味苦，酸；性微寒；歸肺、脾，肝、胃，大腸經。有破滯氣，寬腸胃，祛痰等功用。常用於胸膈痞滿，痰滯食積，嘔逆反胃，下痢後重，脫肛，子宮脫垂等症。
